CEREC technology saves you time and money by allowing Dr. Phan to perform certain procedures in a single appointment at our practice. Created in 1980, CEREC or Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, uses computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) to efficiently create an individual ceramic restoration right in the office.
A traditional crown requires multiple appointments. First, the dentist takes impressions of your smile, usually using a messy, uncomfortable wax. Next, the impressions are sent to a lab. It typically takes around two to three weeks for the lab to fabricate the crown and return it to the office. In the meantime, you must wear a temporary crown, which will inflate the overall cost of treatment. Then you have to schedule an appointment to place the crown.
If you are looking for a fast and effective way to brighten your smile and restore lost function, same-day crowns may be the right treatment for you.
With CEREC, all these steps are completed in one appointment using only digital impressions that result in no mess or discomfort. The on-site milling machine can make your new ceramic crown while you wait, eliminating the need for temporaries and multiple visits. Dr. Phan will also ensure the color and shape of your new crown is virtually indistinguishable from the surrounding teeth. This advanced technology uses dental-grade ceramic, a durable material that mimics the translucency of natural enamel, to create completely natural-looking crowns.
